Sponges, feathers, wood and human hair, mounted on top of painted eyes, bellies, and other body parts. Jan Wisse uses a wide range of composing elements to express a personal vision on human nature, individual freedom and its limitations. An image of a clamped face portrait would surely bring the idea of ‘framing’ to another dimension. Besides his odd-shaped panels, Jan’s witty presentation tickles the rigidity of traditional paintings. Jan Wisse is familiar with Singapore and its vibrant art scene. After his first visit in 1996 he executed works for corporate and private Singaporean commissioners, and participated in art shows all over Singapore. His artistic career started with a solo show in 1984 and since then, his works have been represented in over a few hundreds of gallery shows, museum exhibitions, as well as in many art fairs in Europe, US, Australia and Asia.

“God I love this work ... They are totally kookie.” (Gina Fairley, Art Critic, Australia)
