Miguel Chew
Miguel Chew holds a B.A (Printmaking) and Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Currently a full-time lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, he is also the vice president of Printmaking Society Singapore. He is a recipient of the prestigious 11th Philip Morris Singapore Art Awards 2005 Jurors' Choice prize.
In 2004, Chew started the Kids at Risk programme for The National Youth Council and LA-SALLE SIA College of the Arts to create an opportunity for the juvenile kids in the arts. Chew's artwork is widely seen in public, having been commissioned by the Esplanade, The New Majestic Hotel, Kranji Turf Club and NTUC Pasir Ris Resort Amusement Park.
His artworks have been exhibited at Singapore Tyler Print Institute Gallery, Art Seasons, Utterly Art, Plastique Kinetic Worms and Art Folio, to name a few. His artworks are also being auctioned at Larasati Auction House, Indonesia. A bold artist who dares to take risks, he has exhibited internationally in the Philippines, Indonesia, Ireland and Thailand. Chew's works make an impression as they capture the starkness of the human condition in contemporary setting, merging the concept of design and fine art.
