Nona Garcia
Nona Garcia (born 1978) received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the University of the Philippines. In 2000, she won a Philip Morris Group of Companies ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Art Award in Singapore. She is one of the most acclaimed contemporary young Filipino artists in the world today. Her paintings are powerful counterpoints to spectacle and symbolism as she raises photo realistic depictions, ranging from the banal to the catastrophic, in a grandeur scale. She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in the Philippines, Malaysia, Korea and Singapore. Garcia lives and works in Manila.
